ATG: Advanced Technology Group. It's where Quicktime, Applescript, Cocoa, EOE, Worldboard, etc, came from. It went through reorgs, sometimes as the "Apple Technology Group" sometimes as the "Apple Research Labs".
It was disbanded in the Steve reorg of 1997. One of the more debateable decisions made at "the new Apple". It's important to recognize that it does not take all correct decisions to make success, and conversely, success does not imply all correct decisions were made.
Apple has made some tough choices in the past year, some were right and some were wrong. Right now, it looks like the good choices are outweighing the bad. Go, team go!
I was OK with the stock performance today, since AAPL's move ws pretty much in tandem with the relevent indeces. 3.55%.
Also, I should clarify that the part of Find 2.0 I find cool is the Internet Search capabilities. Basically, Sherlock is Find File + VTwin Search by Content + Internet Search. |
