Gene, I think you're missing a small point here.

&#147&#133believe me when I say that IE & Nav have now have become almost idiot proof. Even so, I have a backup file of favorites. To bitch about loosing your bookmarks is really childish.&#148

The small point is that people who use computers to make a living need stuff that actually works&#151it's not just about some silly bookmarks. Here's a small example&#151the example, in itself, is small and insignificant but demonstrates the flaw in your thought.

I just did a project for a client last week and upon completion I needed to delete a 100mb of temp material that I put in a folder on the desktop. Windoze sez, "Sorry, can't delete this 'cuz it's shared." So, the idiot within me&#151remember, the guy for whom you assert MSFT has made Windoze idiot-proof&#151well, I figure I'll go into 'properties' and disable the sharing of that folder. Well, dummy me&#151'Properties' sez the folder isn't even being shared. So now what? Is it shared or not? Heck, you would think the system shouldn't give conflicting answers. Windoze is still a crap hack attempt at an OS and that 100mb would still be there on my client's desktop but a solution was reached&#151we shut down his network temporarily to clear whatever was confusing the system; anything we did with the client machine wasn't working. Hey&#151now there's a solution! Shut down a network to clear off a folder that mistakenly thinks it's being shared. Brilliant engineering.

Mind you, as I said, this is a small example, but I run into a dozens of similar examples all the time where Windoze just is plain idiotic. It matters to me because I actually need to be on a computer every hour of the day to make money. I don't just use it to send email and post inane statements on SI. I can't waste time fiddling with MSFT "idiot-proof" bloatware&#151I need to get stuff done.

Furthermore, as to &#147&#1333.0 was almost there, 3.1 was it.&#148 Yeah right. That's why so much effort was expended to make Win95 a Mac wannabe&#151and they still didn't get it right. Wanna take another stab at it? You do use this stuff every hour of every day to make a living I take it?
