if Fox was off meds or not to make a point, so what?

Agree - except that he should make that clear. If he stopped taking meds in order to emphasise his point, in order to make it more graphic, more effective - let him say so. Very simple.

If his disease is this severe despite treatment, that's very tragic. But -- if he has a habit of stopping his meds in order to make a political, or dramatic, or any other point... that might be a tad reckless on his part. He really should discuss this with his neurologist.

Wiki has a pretty good article on Parkinson's disease. In fact, Michael J.Fox and his foundation are mentioned there by name.
