Aldec and Cypress Team-up to Offer Complete VHDL Solution
Warp2 Customers Have Direct Access to Active-VHDL
HENDERSON, Nev.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 1998--Aldec Inc., a leading supplier of HDL design entry, synthesis and verification software for programmable logic designs, Monday announced that Cypress Semiconductor Corp.'s (NYSE:CY - news) Warp2 synthesis and fitting product is now a bolt-in option to Active-VHDL.

By teaming up with Aldec, Cypress offers Warp2 customers a complete VHDL design entry, test bench, VHDL synthesis, fitting/place and route and verification solution through Active-VHDL.

''Our focus is to provide a complete VHDL design entry and verification platform based on industry standards such as IEEE 1076-93', VITAL and SDF support. Our partnership with Cypress enables customers to benefit from a complete VHDL solution without having to compromise integration,'' stated David Rinehart, director of strategic marketing, Aldec.

As Cypress continues to move toward higher-density complex programmable logic devices (CPLDs), its customers are faced with having to adapt to new design methodologies. By marrying Aldec's and Cypress' highly developed VHDL tools, designers can support and create designs using Cypress' complete line of high-density CPLD devices.

''Cypress aligned with Aldec to provide customers a complete design environment for targeting all of our programmable logic offerings from SPLDs to CPLDs,'' said Linda Stone, PLD software marketing manager for Cypress.

''Aldec's tools are tightly integrated, of high quality, and easy to use. Our Warp2 customers will find the integrated flow seamless and will appreciate the added features available through Active-VHDL.''

Active-VHDL is currently available to all Cypress Warp2 customers for $3,000. The product is sold and supported by Aldec and its authorized worldwide distributors. The price includes a VHDL Editor, State Machine Editor, Test Bench Generation, VHDL Source Code debugger, Cypress libraries, interfaces to Warp2 and VITAL/SDF simulation support.
