Gary:

You had an interesting comment about "passing over" the KNOT to "improve" odds of getting PFSW. How do you figure that? In my mind, the only way it would have any effect (i.e., hurting the odds) is if you actually got shares of the KNOT. If you were rejected (like, it seems, most of us were), it would have no effect whatsoever. As far as I know, how many IPOs you request has no bearing on your eventual allocations. The only things that count are your Schwab seniority, total assets with them, trading level, and prior IPO allocations. Am I missing something?

From the response, no one got the KNOT allocation -- or are too busy celebrating to 'fess up? My original question was to try and get a sense of IPO "batting averages" -- one out of ten or whatever. I never could get through on the IPO phone line so my experience is strictly online and very recent: I'm 2 for 8 or about .250 so far.

I hope we'll all do better once Schwab forms the alliance in the Spring.
