Excellent question.

In the 1990's when Arab countries expelled 300,000 poor Palestinians, no one at the UN lifted a finger and the event is never even discussed.

The bottom line is that since Sept. 11, many people in the west (particularly in Europe) think that feeding Israel to Bin Laden will make themselves safer.
