John Re...Capitalism isn't seen as the "Great Satan", the US is (by minority factions) because of their interference in Muslim affairs. If there were troops from a Muslim country camped on your Christian Holy ground, how would you feel?
What christian holy ground? The US bases in SA, are a long ways away, from the mosques. The holy sites in SA are close to the red sea, our bases are close to the Gulf. Secondly, we have had bases in a lot of countries, Japan, German, SK etc, and they haven't resorted to terrorism. Thirdy, why are they attacking places where we don't have bases, (BaLi), and who didn't join in the efforts against terrorism, (Morocco), and if they are against the bases, why not attack those bases.
Its not the bases per se,which are the problem. It is what those bases represent, a loss of power, and western ways, along with what they view as western decadence.
If we had troops from Saudi Arabia with a base in Washington DC, how would you feel?
If they were showering us with money, providing protection, and letting me have a go at those 72 virgins,the clerics are promising everybody, I don't think, I would object at all. |
