Merger Date? Information and Questions.

Proposed Final Judgement RE: USA, NY, ILL vs. Sony, Loews, Cineplex Odeon & Seagram Corp. Federal case number 97 C 7162. Extremely Long and !OHMYGOD! is it Boring, but some nice nuggets of information are buried in there.

Part 1 of 2 (63k):

Part 2 of 2 (4k):
financenet.gov

That was a real snoozer. Best I can tell this filed with the Federal Register (FR) on 5/5/98 and was published on 5/6/98.

Quoting from Yahoo:
"As required by the Antitrust Procedures and Penalties Act, the proposed consent decree, along with the U.S. DOJ's competitive decree impact statement, will be published in the Federal Register and comments may be submitted within 60 days. After this period, the Court may enter the final judgment upon finding that it is in the public interest."

The Proposed Final Judgement was served on or about 4/16/98. If it was published in the FR on 5/6, when does the 60-day period start? If the clock starts on 4/16, the comment period expires next month. If it starts with publication in the FR, then we're into July. I know absolutely nothing about the subject and I hope I'm WAY off base, but I don't see how CPX can't announce a merger date with the earnings announcement if no order has been signed. That might piss off Da Judge and/or the Department of Justice.

CPX (supposedly) reports earnings this week.
