[MOT chips]
Tom --
I don't know why the stock is moving, but I did get a call from a guy on the Street who said he'd heard CG was ready to be released. I then called Debbie Salle at Motorola and was told yesterday's release had everything in it that was now publically available. The part that pertains to Amati:
<CopperGold ADSL Transceiver
Motorola Semiconductor also reported that its much-awaited CopperGold ADSL Transceiver is in the company's laboratory, and that initial test results are very positive. "We were excited to find that improvements to our design process, and our low risk strategy, have paid off in a big way on the CopperGold program," said Matt Pendleton, Motorola Semiconductor's ADSL project manager and broadband operations systems manager.
"State-of-the-art design and simulation tools, combined with reuse of a proven DSP design with standard cell coprocessors, are allowing us to progress through testing of this complex, highly integrated device very rapidly. I, and the whole team, will be very happy when we sample our key customers in the near future." >
I don't know what "near future" means, but I'm glad the chip's in MOT's labs and that they've stated publically key customers will soon be receiving it. Amati gets preferrential treatment so will be first.
I'm not going to Supercomm, even though I've been terribly tempted. It's just too close to Lindsay's graduation and because of the flights and hotel situation I'd have to be gone longer than I wanted. There'll be other shows.
Cheers!
