I fail to see just exactly why Rumsfeld needs to step down.

He doesn't, as long as Bush wants him. The DOD doesn't like a Defense Secretary who makes waves. As I said, firing him now would just be throwing a bone to the Democratic dogs and cause them to howl even more.

We will get a lot of finger pointing about "who lost Iraq" over the next century, if it does continue to go badly. TWT.
