What Media Bias? XXXVIII

Posted by Mark Noonan
Blogs for Bush

Earlier we noted an interview excerpted on Drudge in which Abramoff is quoted as regarding his relationship with President Bush as his "so-called relationship". Essentially, Abramoff disclaimed having any real relationship with President Bush and seemed amused by the media feeding frenzy over the issue.

So, how does the Associated Press headline the story? Like this, of course:

VANITY FAIR: BUSH HAD TIES TO ABRAMOFF
AP does do its best to make it seem like there was a serious tie between President Bush and Jack Abramoff - and only gets to Abramoff talking about his "so-called relationship" at the end of the piece. Mostly they try to puff up a relationship between Rove and Abramoff as the connection, though they admit that it is only "at least once" that Abramoff met Rove at the White House. Given that I've met Rove, one can say that I've met Rove "at least once", too...but it'd be a bit absurd to say there is a connection between me and Rove.

This is the way the MSM plays it - just lie about it and hope that enough people aren't paying attention.
