I sat on that seat. They said the slaves would sit on the seat first to warm it up for the Greeks.

They also have an archway about 5'5'' that they said was so wide only Hercules could touch both sides at once.

There is also an amphitheatre where Saint John or Paul was preaching trying to convince them to quit peddling idols, which they did not like one bit since that was a big source of income, little statues to take home.

They have an excellent library they restored. Mary was said to have spent her last days there.

It was once near the sea, but the sea has retreated.

Quite a place. We stopped at Delos the day before. That even tops Ephesus.

I was there at the end of the last century, I was so impressed with the people that I told my wife we could live there. Our tour guide was a very intelligent good-looking middle aged woman, no veil, who was very proud of her democratic government.

Times have changed, at least in my mind.

Certainly been some changes at Ephesus.
