Closing in on 2400 Americans killed...

This is one of the few areas where I agree with Hawk. 2400 is a pimple compared to other US losses in other wars. I've added to that it's insignifcant compared to the number of homicides in the US every year or the number of deaths resulting from medical error that occur in the US every year. Military personnel signed up voluntarily and knew the risks. We here in the US can do our part to fight terrorism [per Bush]; go shopping at the mall. The next time I go to the mall I plan on fighting terrorism by buying the new Dixie Chicks CD.

Some 85% think that something can actually be done about oil prices yet the Dubyette publicly says he can't do anything about them.

I had a good laugh the other night when I was watching a CNN sponsored discussion on gas prices. One side was quoting Bush's prior rationale on the similarity between GWOT and WWII. Pearl Harbor => 9/11; Nazis world domination => Islamo-fascists world domination; FDR => GWB. And they had the bravado to suggest that just like WWII, when FDR rationed gas/fixed gas prices then too, GWB could fix gas prices. The other side, as you might expect was... this is NOT like WWII; free market; oil companies have the right to make as much money as possible. That's what democracy is all about.
