Rick ...

With the manner I've done my machines I don't need any software ...
it is already there ...

Bob went through the clikstream for IE in the previous post 18562 ...
>>>Switching from cable to dial up:
internet explorer, tools, internet options, connections, change the button from never dial a connection (cable) to always dial a connection

EXCEPT ...
that
in my situation .. with COX cable .. and my two phone ISPs .. and I really don't know if the environment my stuff operates in is any different from others or not ...
I DID NOT have to do that ...
my "Internet Options" box is checked right now ..
.never dial a connection

I let the cable be in the ALWAYS ON ...like it wants to be ..
when the box boots up and Win98se comes on screen ... my cable connection to the net is ready to use immediately... requires NO action on my part ...

BUT
I went through the W98 "Make a new connection" process for both my phone ISPs ..
and put an icon on my desktop which will connect me by dialing phone protocol ...
and hook me up to the net via phone modem ...

WHEN I do that .. clik on the phone dialup ISP connect box it will override the cable hook up ****(but it doesn't disconnect me from the cable .. just the ability to use the cable) ...
when I disconnect the phone hookup ...
I'm right back on line with cable ... no action required on my part ...

any questions ..???
