I know I said a few days ago that I was keeping Rumsfeld. At the time, although I didn't say it, I was talking with potential successors to Rumsfeld. But if I said so, it would become an election issue. So I said the opposite

Which again goes to show - if people wouldn't have made Rumsfeld such a big deal, he would've been out the door before now. It's a shame Rummy has to go. I hope Gates has the cajones to run the Pentagon rather than the Pentagon running him.
