Ted, RE: "The College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says alternatives to D&X usually exist, but that in some circumstances it may be the best procedure."
Good grief, it's truly amazing America has erased 50 years of progress by creating a law that actually does not allow the mother to remain alive. Imagine a third trimester pregnant lady, in a car accident, where the wheel rams into her abdomen causing her to hemmorage. Meanwhile, the ambulance takes too long to get her, she's lost a lot of blood and enters into shock. According to Bush's law, she should go through a high risk ceasarian (even though she was in shock) or attempt a nature birth (even though she lost a substantial amount of blood, has damaged organs and was in shock.) Apparently a D&X isn't allowed to save the mother's life in such a situation. Spooky !
RE: "Opponents of the ban also argue that its language is vague and could be interpreted as covering more common, less controversial procedures, including ''dilation and evacuation.'' Known as D&E, it is the most common method of second-trimester abortion. An estimated 140,000 D&Es take place in the United States annually."
Partial miscarriages are extremely frequent in the population, where the miscarriage doesn't expel everything, allowing the remains to rot and infect. So if D&E's are made illegal, this means a pregnant woman that's partially miscarried would not be able to have her uterus cleaned out, causing potentially life-threatening infection due to the infection of partial remains after a partial miscarriage.
The Republicans in Congress are out of control.
It's amazing the Baby Boomers, who brought so much progress to America, are no longer protecting even the most basic right for an injured pregnant woman to live. These could be dangerous times for women in America.
America's laws do not protect the right for a woman to stay alive. Scary! This is no longer a country of progress.
