It would be cheaper than a PC because it's simpler, cheaper chip, no local storage (besides caching I would imagine). All in all more akin to a telephone than a PC. You summed it up nicely - a thin client is about as dumb as a telephone ... just imagine how amazingly un-productive you can be ! hehehehe
