What you and the left liked to call a "death squad" was a necessary part of fighting the Soviet terrorists in those Central American countries. The American left's condemnation of those nation's attempts to defend themselves was never significantly challenged in the corrupt "post Vietnam" environment.

There will be small military teams who are both American and American-supported, and whose targets will be individuals and small groups, in the pending conflict. There will also undoubtedly be occasional free-fire zones and combined-arms search and destroy missions. Get used to them, it's how you fight this enemy. If the left starts to whine and cry about it, and call the soldiers on the friendly side "death squads" (combat soldiers are, after all, supposed to kill, are they not?) it will be a test of American resolve if we can reject these arguments and stifle the traitors who make them...
