Not that this applies to me, as I don't fall into the upgrade trap anymore. Windows 98SE still works fine for me, but Windows XP is going to change a lot of things. I read somewhere that MP3 will be hurt by Windows XP, not disabled, but you won't have the high quality sound as you do right now.
