Thanks Graustus. These things make such a big change to life. Really had me down for a while, but I have finally learned that trying to talk sense to someone with dementia is just beating yourself up. And the fact that you never know what you will get moment to moment. Heck, the other day mom asked me who she was.
Hate myself for not seeing my sister for about a month, but on the other hand, she isn't really anything like my sister any more. I bring her here, and after hellos, she and mom sit around and don't say anything. The wife gets them playing crazy eights, but has to explain everything again on every turn. Many times, my sister says she needs to get back. It is her home and life now.
Anyone reading here probably thinks I sit and look at the market all day. I do like to put my Westies tracker collar on in the morning, let him out, and enjoy coffee on the back porch, while checking the premarket movers. I usually watch until about ten, then check in every now and then while doing something.
Lived here 39 years with only one starting coat of drywall compound on in the garage. Should have finished it before I had a bad back and arthritic neck. Walls should be a piece of cake, but the ceiling is working me over. Finally painting it today, but my neck only lasted long enough to get 1/3 done. Old one day jobs are now three day jobs.
Tilled the garden Saturday, two 50 x 90 patches, although we only use half now, and planted winter wheat on all but a 25x50 piece. That piece gets our compost stuff, brother in laws grass clippings, leaves we gather up, and shavings and chicken poop from our fall, once a year chicken house clean out. Two weeks before I want to plant something in the spring, I will add a little of the compost and some mushroom soil, till up that area, and then plant it later. From the air, it probably looks like a quilt. :)
When the wheat is ready, I'll harvest some for the chickens, till in the wheat, and plant buckwheat. Weeds can not outcompete buckwheat. Then wheat next fall, and sweetcorn in the spring.
When my neck gave out today, looking for an easy job, I took my compact John Deere, and pushed all the four foot weeds out of my son in laws garden, tilled it, and planted wheat in his too. At least I felt like I did something.
Pretty sure I am crazy, but I'm trying. Hope that keeping up with stocks keeps my brain going, or if not, hope I can tell I am losing it. |
