trouble is we can calc tax and mark ups/downs to unitary amounts.. if we transact in pentary amounts it comes to giving up 4 cents one way or getting it back.. it might even out.. what is needed is a boost to the buck.. make the one the five.. .. now it sounds simple but how to do it? eliminate the one dollar coin and the two, and call the nickel the one cent piece.. the five the one.. but make it equal on all transactions to the smaller amount.. in other words a 20 dollar purchase now becomes a 4 dollar purchase... all values/salaries/prices get rolled back 5 times. the effect is a revaluation of the unitary amount to 5 time that value.. and use the nickel as a one cent piece..

you need units mathematically.. they cannot be destroyed. it is prices we have to change to reflect that..
