"The National Debate" Blog

Daniel Okrent began work this week as the new Public Editor or "ombudsman" at The New York Times. In our effort to continue to press the Times for a proper, formal correction regarding the story we broke on the Dowd Ellipsis we have sent Okrent a letter asking him to confirm that Arthur Sulzberger, Jr. had followed through on his commitment, made to Mike Marshall of the Mobile Register, to review the question of whether columnists at The New York Times should be held to the same standard as reporters (presumably to be truthful and accurate in using quotes in writing their columns).
