This morning's fun fact: Lipangue lies only about 40 miles due West of the "largest ore-bearing breccia deposit in the world." (Rio Blanco-Los Bronces.) It's size has been attributed to a first order tectonic segment which runs East/West and...directly under Alto De Lipangue! (One other first order boundary between tectonic segments is located in Chile-it also runs East/West in the vicinity of the Refugio mine.)

"On a global plate tectonic scale it may be significant that the Los Bronces-Rio Blanco system is located at the intersection of the Andes mountain range and the eastward projection of the east-northeast-oriented Juan Fernandez ridge south of the Nazca plate and the Challenger fracture zone, off the coast of central Chile. The structural intersection may have caused a zone of weakness for a fecund magma to rise into the upper part of the crust."-Fred Warnaars-PORPHYRY COPPER AND TOURMALINE BRECCIAS AT LOS BRONCES-RIO BLANCO, CHILE."

Just one of the many reasons I have marked Lipangue as being something special.....Cheers.
