Maybe some people just need to see the numbers...

CrystalMax 1080 (assuming 30% increase from KM)

2.1 Gb x 1.30 net = 2.7 Gb (2 platters)
3.2 Gb x 1.30 net = 4.2 Gb (3 platters)
4.3 Gb* x 1.30 net = 5.6 Gb (4 platters)

*suggested MSRP of $399.99

Just imagine how many drives Maxtor can sell if they can come out with a 5.6 Gb disk drive for $399.99! ...at an incremental manufacturing cost of pennies per platter + licensing fees of under a buck.

One can argue that Maxtor would HAVE to make KM work, which is not to say that it doesn't work already!
