Allen, thanks for the insights on UDI. When I discovered WIND last summer I reviewed all your posts on this thread and the predecessor threads. I've been reviewing Techweb since then to watch for I2O developments, and the story has unfolded much as you predicted. I'm still hoping to see more visible support from Microsoft, but I expect it given the advantages to them in competing with Unix.

Per your observation about the lack of critical mass for UDI, let me confirm it by mentioning that on Techweb I found 61 mentions of I2O vs. 9 for UDI. Using an Alta Vista web search, I found 275 references to "I2O", and 9 for "Uniform Driver Interface" (Searching for "UDI" on the web turned up many other organizations with those initials.)

Lastly, a correction: In my initial post I referred to UDI as "Universal Device Driver" when in fact it is "Uniform Driver Interface". As Mitch Jones says, memory is the second thing to go.
