I don't dispute that hard data would be required to support the statement that American cos. owned anythink like 60% of anything world wide. I only responded to your original statement that you had "the feeling that the U.S. didnt own anything in Asia and only a trickle in Europe." My response to that was anecdotal to show an example of US ownership of an Asian insurer, and was intended as a gentle nudge to say that your statement was equally unsubstantiated and broadly made as the one to which you replied. Rather like your statement about diamonds, the British, etc. Now, having said that I remain a fan of your comments here and believe that in general they are accurate and informative.
