INSP-The Inspirational Network Selects Scientific-Atlanta's PowerVu Satellite Video System

ATLANTA, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- INSP - The Inspirational Network has selected a PowerVu(R) digital video compression system from Scientific-Atlanta for the rollout of its new "INSP-Digital" in the first quarter of 1998. INSP will offer multiple channels made possible through digital video compression technology which squeezes several channels into the satellite space previously required to send a single channel. The programmer will make INSP-Digital available through HITS (Headend In The Sky) and directly to cable systems from its Charlotte, NC studios.

In addition to offering the current INSP channel, INSP-Digital will offer new programming created from a partnership between INSP and religious-radio ministries and personalities who have not previously been on national television. Many of these radio ministries have extensive, loyal audiences which INSP believes will be eager to support a video format of these popular radio shows. Other digital programming planned for INSP-Digital includes the Americana Television library, kids' shows, and multi-part video series on marriage and other family topics.

A growing number of U.S. programmers are using the PowerVu system from Scientific-Atlanta, including E! Entertainment Television, The Family Channel, FiT TV, C-SPAN, and Showtime.
