Well, I think that we should bomb Iraq. In particular, targeting their civilian areas...
...with the following "ordnance:" tons upon tons of carefully rigged-to-airdrop cigarettes, portable electric generators, televisions, VCRs, popular films, laptops, light farming & agricultural equipment, jeans, batteries, livestock feed, popular books and magazines of all sorts, wristwatches, cans of nonperishable food, carpentry and mechanics' tools, sneakers and work boots, ready-to-use medicine, children's toys, gasoline blivets, spare auto and truck parts (filters, spark plugs, etc.), paper towels and toilet paper, etc. No coercive packaging, leaflets or propaganda necessary; after a few days or weeks of these "bombings," I think the Iraqi people will get the picture.
I'm not suggesting that I think that military force doesn't have a place in this (or other) situations...but when the job needs to be done, and quickly...not even wily Saddam has a chance against the unrelenting power of the marketplace.
