I can't say what it will do to strength, but the consensus seems to be that slowing way down will move it well north.

It is bumping up against a high pressure ridge (a "Bermuda High") to the north. The storm takes the path of least resistance, so this ridge has kept it from going north. The ridge must weaken eventually, so a slower hurricane has more of a chance of turning north.
