Some percentage of those who would buy from the bricks and morter store would also shop the net for a better price. But better to cannibolize your own sales channel because the the on-line shoppers can simply go to the competition. Also, the stores could actually enhance the on-line sales if the channels work together under the single brand name.

Hopefully CPU management will implement a strategy that increases customer satisfaction, market share, profits and thus shareholder value at the expense of it's competitors. It requires agility to win the marketing wars, but what a prize. It's all up for grabs, and CPU has inherent advantages. But they can easily blow it with inertia or lack of strategic thinking IMO.
