It may be risky for him politically, but I doubt it. You think kids and users are going to vote for Romney?
Maybe some of them will just sit the election out. But I think he is very concerned about 'independent' voters.
He shows up here every other month, seems like frequent visits to Virginia too.
I get together with some guys every couple of months for lunch. Here's the demographic: they are all in their 50's or 60's. Two of us are Vietnam War era veterans. One is a conservative Democrat, the others claim to be independents.
A quick paraphrased excerpt of the discussion:
"How's your boy doing?"
-- Not so good, at least he did get a minimum wage job at Lowes (a local grocery chain). He's in there with
a bunch of damn high school kids and retirees.
He still living with you guys?
Yes, he is in the basement and it's getting old. Especially when he comes rolling in at 3 am on a Saturday or Sunday morning.
You think he's doing dope?
God, I hope not, but these boys who come back from Afghanistan are screwed up in so many ways. At least he
seems 'normal."
-- Well he better watch out, they are sending people to the pen, still for dope. Obama's been busting those
dope folks right and left out in California.
-- Well that's one good thing. But who cares really.
-- You see that jobs report this morning?
Yeah, that's the thing. If Obama can't improve on the jobs thing, he is toast. Hell, even I will vote for Romney
and I think Romney's a f----ing idiot."
The 'boy' is a 26 year old Afghanistan veteran, honorably discharged last December. |
