Gary,

Net-terminals are going to be diskless, and applications require disk
space not only for themselves, but for saving documents as well.
Users will not be able to run full-blown applications, even with
the increased bandwidth.

Besides, cable modems aren't going to be widely available for
several years to come. ISDN is the next big step, and right now that's
just barely trickling into the market.
