depends on the cuisine, I guess. Most places outside India, present North Indian food as "Indian cuisine". That cuisine is very similar to Pakistani cuisine - commonly referred to as Moghlai cuisine - ie. "from the Moghuls".

There are very contrasting cuisines in the south, east and west of India. Ask a tamilian, or a gujarati or a bengali.
