It's not just courage, it's what humanity looks like. Humanity and empathy require us to protect the weak. The kids who are bullied are bullied because there is something different about them. You can see birds peck to death weaker birds, or birds with some problem- and that's what we see kids doing, but the law of the jungle, so to speak, is not the law most of us want to live by. And even if people make gross errors as teens- which is what aggressive and physical bullying is- we expect adults to know better, do better, and be able to communicate what is better. It's disgusting to watch grown people talk about bullying as if it's some rite of passage, or some "boys will be boys" type of experience. It's not. It's ugly, and it's dangerous, and it can ruin the life of the child who experiences it.
