I'll answer succinctly and not to detract from the stock stuff. but suffice it to say I haven't solely daytraded since September 1998 The lions share of my trading has been (75% and more) are swing trades (2-5 days) and position trades (1-2 weeks)... During the 'corrections' of August I was daytrading index puts and internet puts and the market climate was such that anyone who tried for anything longer got burnt. I trade according to the market climate... Being a daytrader is fine, but the big money comes from a combination of in longer term trades and daytrading. You'll want to note some of the threads call themselves position trade threads but they are out like flash if the market climate gets shaky and the 'position' sometimes doesn't last longer than a few hours.

You might like the newsletter with the earnings plays especially for the Dec/Jan/Feb quarter. Some of them will turn out to be longer term holds. At least you can show the list to your broker and have him advise you if you like. But make him get a subscription (kidding)

Anything in more detail will be in an e-mail and also look through the site.. marketgems.com
