Lucent said the reorganization will lift its focus on high growth areas such as wireless, semiconductors, data networking and optical networking. The changes take effect Nov. 1. The company appointed two chief operating officers to oversee the reorganization effort under which its existing three business units - microelectronics, business communications systems and systems for network operators - will be broken down into smaller businesses. Lucent said the move is aimed at bringing new offerings in several high-growth markets to customers as quickly as possible. Lucent's groups will be expanded with the creation of a global service provider business; wireless networks group; switching and access systems group; optical networking group; network products group; communications software group; an intellectual property division; and a new ventures group. Glenn, It looks like Lucent has big plans! Livingston isn't going to cut it! Optical networking is going to be big also. Jeff
