I don't usually go in for arguments that merely provide data on death counts. Primarily because everyone dies. The only time it seems relevant to one of these discussions is when their is an issue of injustice associated with the death count.

If that is the topic, I don't see any problem if people want to make direct comparisans between different entities responsible for injustice resulting in deaths, including the USA.

However, if the topic is regarding some specific injustice, it is not necessary to make comparisons to other injustices. Its like trying to have a conversation about the causes of obesity and being called skinny. This is an information blocker that has no place in productive discourse.
