KJ,

<< Ancor is not re-inventing the wheels. >>

I agree. I believe Ken mentioned at the end of the conference call that they were working with INRANGE on the "high end" and as has been pointed out here in the distant past, Ancor's asic technology is fairly scalable in either direction (ie. the new 8 port switch on the lower end).

<< As to your question on my speculation on how big this arrangement will be worth, It is worth high 8 figures or more when it reaches its potential IMO. Mainframe business is huge. >>

When you say this, can you be more clear about time frames. Do you see it reaching it's potential within 2 years, 5 years? I guess I would feel better if I had an idea about WHEN Ancor expected inrange to finally be delivering product (ie. and start getting that 2 mill?) What I do feel very good about is that it seems there are VERY FEW players even competing up in this high end world.

I apologize if this has been asked before, but what is the differences between the MKII-8 and something like the Denali switch from gadzoox? When Joe Aldrean (?) asked about who competes in the general switch space, I believe he mentioned Brocade and Mcdata and then Cal (maybe Ken?) said it would only be fair to add Vixel/Arcxel. Why not gadzoox too...is the tech used in Ancor's and Brocade's switches that much more functional/powerful/scalable?

It also was interesting to hear that Ancor says there really isn't price per port competition for the 8 port MKII. Hopefully, Ancor can stay in the lead here.

No questions asked about possible GE bridges?? I wish I got up earlier. ;-)

all imho
