It is probably opening in another browser window behind the window that contains the link.

Techncally, we're doing target=_new which means it could open in another window that was already "spawned" from that window. I personally don't like that behavior, since it often opens in a window that isn't visible, not to mention that it could replace a data feed such as a real-time portfolio/trading window. I would prefer target=_blank so it would open in a truly new window, and make that the active one.
