**OT** in actual fact the president, because he is very bright, and understands the way markets work, has done a very good job in that he has taken the right advice at the right time, and managed it all consistantly... I think he should be respected for that. In relation to SCOTTS point that the freer the market the better it works, and the data to back it up... lets see it... I'd say that the absolute evidence say that managed ecoomies work better than free-marketism... In the US, maney prices are managed, social security is index linked, interest rates are managed, industries are protected... what is the 25% import duty on trucks if not a bone for detroit... cigarettes are punitively taxed... oil production is susidized... as is much defence andb high tech research... farmers are subsidized.... Justice is after MSFT... Chrysler wasn't allowed to go bust (it worked too)... same with Citibank railways and subways get gvt money so that workers can get to work ... airwaves are given free to broadcasters... how free market is that... hey I'm not complaining, I like a managed economy... I'm just pointing out that that's what works...
