I think that you are correct. Any cookbook for investment success needs to be validated. You failed to mention the "simple methods" which you use. Could you let us in on your secret?

I would only differ with your comments in one respect. I am not certain that the investment environment is a stable and predictable one. For example, the immediate availability of financial information and the reality of on-line trading afforded by the Internet has greatly changed investment practices. Investors can make much more informed and timely decisions if they are so motivated. Thus, methods which have been employed and validated 10 or 20 or 30 years ago may not necessarily be as valuable today or tomorrow as they were when first tested.

Please elaborate on the methods you mention in your opening paragraph and how they may apply to the stock you mentioned. If you recall, I mentioned that I used some of the Motley Fool parameters in evaluating SanDisk last Spring and they failed miserably. The reason was my complete ignorance of the effect of the Asian Flu on consumer electronics purchases abroad, in particular digital cameras and the like. Also, I did not anticipate the tech sector being abandoned so abruptly. So you have to wet you finger and lift it up into the wind before you can feel confident. There may be a storm brewing.
