The right does not seem to have a consistent position on this issue........that's why I made the comment.

Most positions of the right or the left are not constant because -

1 - Both "the right" and "the left" consist of many individuals with different opinions.

2 - Opinions change over time.

3 - What positions people emphasize and how they spin the opinions changes as the situation changes.

4 - The specific issue is a somewhat complex one. The possible viewpoints are not limited to "a president is responsible for and enormously affect on the economy" and "presidents have little or no affect on the economy". Not only can you believe presidents have many different levels of affect between "none" and "near total", but it is possible, even reasonable, to believe that different presidents in different situations have a different level of impact on the economy.

Personally I have had a fairly constant position on this issue from the moment I had any position on this issue.
