mrknowitall, re virus: meanwhile the data provider gave me a work-
around and told me emphatically the claimed virus is not a virus.
I tend to believe the data vendor, because it turns out the file
itself is NOT downloaded, but is created after the download.
Since I don't really need this file, it is no longer created,
solving the problem for me.

I have yet to meet someone who had software damaged by a virus.
I know many people who had software or data damaged because of
the unreliability of their OS [usually Windows].
