Bill,

I've a long position on WAVO shares after having traded it frequently earlier in the year. I decided to take a position after using Win98 for awhile and recently installing Internet Explorer 5 Beta.

The focus is so intense on WaveTop, but I think what's going to happen is that the WaveTop "idea" is going to be folded into the Active Channel concept. Active Channels beg for a wireless downloading mechanism, I think. Another use that people seem to overlook is that companies such as Microsoft could use the WaveTop "idea" to push updates to their software, something like the scheduled "LiveUpdates" that Symantec uses for their Norton products.

I think Wavephore will do a good steady business from their datacasting business that existed before WaveTop. A point to consider is that WaveTop might evolve into more of a mechanism for Windows Active Channels, then "live on it's own".

I admit that I have no burning desire to get WaveTop, however I like the idea of getting a tuner card and having software updates delivered to my PC offline (even if I'd still need a dialup to let the host examine my PC to see what updates are indicated). I'd also like the idea of Active Channels updating without me having a phone connection up all the time.

In short, WaveTop without the fuss of separate software, more tightly bound to the Win98 operating system.

Thoughts?
Dave
