I use WinME so I ran sysedit and typed in the line, hit save and booted the machine. All the files were still there AND the line I had just added to autoexec.bat was gone!" some thoughts... it sure sounds as though you are not really saving the change to the file. at least try closing and reopening the file to see if the new line is still there. next thought, are you adding the line precisely as langa wrote it, spaces and all? or... did langa type it wrong and there should be a space somewhere in that line? ohhh, i think i just found something.... on this referenced langa link langalist.com he refers to the line insertion as del c:\windows\ff.tmp* notice anything different between the two lines? <g3> could the extra f be causing the prob? let us know :) mark
