You have to love the first line in The New York Times NEWS story (or at least it's supposed to be) on Andrew Card's resignation:

<<< President Bush today announced the resignation of his chief of staff, Andrew H. Card Jr., in the first major staffing change of his troubled second term. >>>

Pardon me, but isn't the use of the adjective "troubled" an editorial comment rather than a factual one? Is the President in great shape? It wouldn't appear so, but there's been no mid-term elections yet. Also, let's look at just some of the second-term accomplishments (not all of which we agree with, but accomplishments none the less) - 2 Supreme Court Judges Appointed, the Bankruptcy Reform Bill, the Gun Liability Bill, the Highway Bill, the Energy Bill, a small cut in domestic spending, renewal of the Patriot Act.

Might the 2006 elections spell trouble for his second-term? Of course that's possible. But until it actually happens, don't you think the purpose of a "news" story is to inform, and not editorialize?
