Often (although not always, sometimes one person might think its important for the other one to care and would explain why), but only about that specific question.

I care more about the content of the article, the ideas and arguments and information in it, then about some obscure possible conflict of interest the author might possibly have.

If it was a government official, someone with actual power over you life, then the conflict of interest would be more important. But if its just someone writing an opinion piece, what kind of conflict of interest could he have, and why should we care about it?

What's your opinion on the actual article and its ideas?
