That's the reason you're the straight man; you can never even figure out what you said.

This is just an observation, not sure if this is true or not, but it seems to me that in most, not all comedy teams the straight man was the smart one. The funny man played the idiot. Abbot and Cosstello, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, and Laural and Hardy (well they were both idiot's) are the classic examples. In real life the reverse was often true.
