>What possible harm (or influence) could WIND expect from competitors >such as WINDOWS CE at the upcoming show?
Before the show in Boston last spring, there was a lot of talk about the real-time Windows CE debut, particularly since a MSFT general manager was scheduled to present the keynote speech. But I haven't heard anything particular about Windows CE at the September show, or anything threatening to WIND.
You can expect that INTS will try to make a splash again this year with pRISM+, and you certainly can expect WIND to attempt to cement the impression that it is the leading RTOS vendor, perhaps by dipping into their $250 million war chest.
In addition, I would expect WIND to emphasize EIDs, Java, I2O, partners based on open API, and I would be surprised if the Sojourner isn't seen roaming around the WIND booth. New software products or upgrades often are announced at the show.
Finally, since ESC-west show is the main show of the year, expect every company to release announcements during the show. WIND could have a bundle of things to announce or demonstrate, such as the 2nd generation NC, products from Navio, or additional integrated hardware/software solutions modeled after I2O. It can get pretty exciting during showtime, often with the stock price reacting accordingly.
