Unfortunately, opponents of alternative energy fought and stalled the Nantucket Sound wind project for 9 years... fought something that will look like a speck in the distance... the NIMBY factor applies to alternative energy.

We have a number of wind farms near where I live... drive five minutes and you can see windmills on a ridgetop. Frankly, I'd prefer nothing, but the sleek, white windmills are certainly more attractive than houses or smokestacks.

There's a better way of using our coastal resources to generate energy. On Wednesday, the Obama administration approved the country's first offshore wind farm, a 130-turbine project off Massachusetts that is guaranteed never to foul beaches with tar or emit carbon into the atmosphere. Cape Wind is the future; the sunken Deepwater Horizon drilling rig represents a tarred past.
